The collection of the Picture gallery comprises more than 11 thousand of pieces of painting, sculpture, drawing, decorative and applied arts and crafts, including house architectural wooden carving of old Chelyabinsk. Here we can find the following collections: arts of Europe and the West, Russian art of Middle Ages, the art of the New and the Newest time, modern art.

Here there are unique collections of icon paintings, old printed and hand written books, plastics cast of brass and wooden sculpture, mainly collected in the Ural, reflected the variety of traditions of the Ancient Rus: Pskov, Novgorod, North schools, Ukraine, Povolzhye, the Ural and Siberia and certainly the capital art of Rublyov traditions from 16th to 20th centuries.
